Welcome to Chaparral Elementary! We are proud of our students and staff and the accomplishments they make each year. Chaparral Elementary is now on a modified track. What that means is that instead of five different tracks, we will be having a single track for the entire school. Every student will start school on August 22, 2011. All students will have a track break in November and March with the school year ending on June 15, 2012.
Our accomplishments have been great this year as we have implemented grade level intervention plans that are allowing us to reach all learners at all levels. As we continue to set goals at each grade level, our students are doing their best to achieve these goals and continue to succeed in their testing and assessments. Through hard work from our teachers, parents, and students, we will reach our goals and continue to move forward.
All of our grade levels have different unique and special projects. A couple of examples include our first grade classes camp toward the end of the year. At this time they will focus on the theme of camping and being in the wilderness while focusing on reading, math, science, and social studies. Our third grade does a city project in which every third grader builds a portion of a city. It is then put together in the cafeteria and their work is displayed for two days. The curricular areas of reading, math social studies, science, and art are all focused on during this project.
