DISTRICT PROFILE
Joint School District Number 2 serves 384 square miles of Idaho's Treasure Valley in the southwest corner of the state. The District serves the communities of Star, Eagle, Meridian, and part of Boise, the state capitol, and Garden City. Serving a population of about 100,000 patrons, the district is known for its innovative approach to the delivery of public education.
Currently, the district has 28 elementary schools, 3 K-8 schools, 9 middle schools, 5 traditional high schools, and 3 alternative high schools. The district opened an arts and leadership magnet elementary school in the fall of 2004, the first magnet school in the state of Idaho. The school offers the arts - music, dance, drama and visual arts - integrated into a rigorous curriculum for students to excel in all academic areas. The district opened its second magnet arts school in the fall of 2005. Since 2005, the district has continued to expand choice with new offerings that include two math and science magnet schools, a math and technology magnet school, a core literacty magnet school, and next year the district will open a world languages elementary magnet school and a district-wide high school magnet.

Idaho's Joint School District Number 2 is currently the largest in the state, with growth projections indicating it will continue to be the largest school district. Growth in student population has averaged around 1,000 students per year per year over the last 10 years. However, that enrollment increases over the last 3 years have averaged more than 1500 students

SALARY INFORMATION
The base salary in the district starts at $30,000 and progresses to $53,155. Increases in pay are based on annual salary adjustments as well as increases based on experience and educational attainment. The district offers scholarships for staff working on earning credits at the secondary level. The only experience that will be considered for advanced placement on the salary schedule is previous teaching experience for a state accredited school system for one semester or more. You must have signed a teaching contract(s) for this previous experience. University or college teaching experience will not be considered.
LIVING IN THE TREASURE VALLEY
Idaho's Treasure Valley serves as a gateway to many of the state's scenic treasures. Within sixteen miles to the north is the Boise National Forest and Bogus Basin Ski Resort. To the south is the Snake River Canyon, which includes the World Center for Birds of Prey. Within two hours are the resort ski towns of Sun Valley and McCall, and within the same distance is access to some of the best and most pristine wilderness areas in the United States.
The Treasure Valley itself boasts an excellent quality of life, with numerous parks, a greenbelt that follows the Boise River right within the city of Boise, and recreational opportunities in the mountain foothills that line the valley's northern edge.
The Treasure Valley is home to the state's capitol, Boise, three universities, three major performing arts centers, and numerous other recreational and cultural opportunities.
