Gateway School of Language and Culture students pursue Idaho's Achievement Standards for learning through an international lens, with activities and experiences designed to help students be culturally proficient in our emerging global economy. Our students study alongside students from around the globe, as Gateway has one of the most diverse student populations in the school district. While the focus is international, all students also receive weekly instruction in Mandarin Chinese, with an emphasis on conversational skills and cultural proficiency. Instruction in the simplified Chinese character system also provides students with an alternate vision for expressing themselves through writing and practicing the art of Chinese calligraphy.

For the fall of 2013, Gateway's 50/50 immersion experience in Mandarin Chinese will expand to serve Kindergarten through 4th grade. This program is exclusively for families wanting 50% of their child's day in English and 50% of their child's day in Mandarin Chinese. The Kindergarten program is a full day experience, and is contingent upon families participating in the Tuition-based program offered by the district, which has a cost of $250.00 per month.
