District Names Teacher of the Year Print E-mail

Pathway’s Middle School teacher, Amy Senethavilay, was named the District’s Teacher of the Year at a surprise ceremony held at her school today at 1:30 pm. 

The announcement was made by Superintendent Dr. Linda Clark in front the schools’ entire staff and student body, who responded with a standing ovation and cheers of “We love you Amy.”  Ms. Senethavilay’s family, including her husband, children, and parents were in attendance to help share in the celebration.

                                                                                                                   

In making the presentation, Dr. Clark read a paragrpah submitted on Ms. Senethavilay’s behalf by the school’s principal, Eric Eschen, which read, in part, “She is a former teacher of the year from a large school who is nationally board certified and has a personality that attracts devoted students to her class.  She is a devoted teacher who is always looking for new ways to teach her students and connect them with literature.  She is simply an exemplary teacher.” 

 

After calls from the crowd for a speech, Ms. Senethavily expressed what an honor it was to be selected, and said, “I am totally surprised.  I never expected this.”

 

As part of the award, Ms. Senethavily will receive a specially-designed, Teacher of the Year ring donated by Josten’s and a personal laptop computer donated by Lenova.  Her name will be submitted to the Department of Education for consideration for
