Changes to Grades

The Meridian School District has moved to a semester grading system for middle school. In the past students received a final grade each quarter and grades started over for the new quarter. This change is aligned with how high school grades are calculated.
Semester grades will take into account 18 weeks of course work (all assignments, tests, quizzes, EOC tests added together, average is semester grade). Parents will have the opportunity to see a progress report at the end of each quarter, but the grade continues toward the end of semester grade.

        Late Arrivals and Attendance:

All STUDENTS  must sign in at the attendance window in the main office if arriving to school after 8:05 a.m. to 8:15 a.m.( on Wednesdays 8:20 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.) are considered TARDY unless riding school provided transportation, extraordinary circumstances, or with a Doctor/Dentist/Court excuse.  Student’s arriving AFTER 8:10 a.m. are considered ABSENT and must have a parent or guardian call the attendance line, provide a note, or sign the student in at the attendance window.

Please make sure your EMAIL ADDRESS is updated in yourchild's PowerSchool.  All future NEWSLETTERS will only be sent via email and posted on the MMS website.

It's a simple equation:  We ARE role models to our children, whether or not we choose to be.  They may or may not admire us, but they will mirror us.  Being a positive role model means being careful to model the behavior we want them to mirror. --Bert Simmons
