- Articulation:
The oral production of language using breathing, sound, movements of lips, tongue, teeth, and larynx. - Language:
A rule-governed system for communication using sounds arranged to form words with rules for combining these words into strings that express thoughts, intentions, experiences, and feelings. - Receptive Language:
Understanding (translation and meaning) what you hear; listening skills. - Expressive Language:
How we communicate our feelings, ideas, and intentions to others. - Pragmatic Language:
How we use social language in the environment in which it happens. - Apraxia:
There is no paralysis, but the brain has difficulty programming the muscle movements for articulation of sounds. - Oral Motor:
Physical exercises for awareness, movement, and control of lips, jaws teeth, tongue, and palate.
