Meridian Joint School District strongly believes that healthy students learn better.  Currently 40 registered nurses serve the health and wellness needs of almost 33,000 students and over 4,000 staff daily.

Please note that schedules may change due to screenings or other district responsibilities.

Vision Screening:

During October, November and December vision screening is conducted for 1, 3 and 5th graders across the district.  If you received a referral form indicating further vision testing was recommended please let the school nurse know the result of any examinations.  If you have any questions regarding vision screening or results, please contact your school nurse.

Postural Screening:

During the month of February school nurses will be conducting Postural (Scoliosis) Screening for 6th and 8th grade girls, and 8th grade boys.  All students are given an information sheet with an "opt-out" form prior to screening.  The purpose of this screening is to identify those students who have possible deviations in posture or spine.  Students who may have possible  problems are then referred to a free district clinic staffed by a local orthopedic physician.  If you have any questions about the process of postural screening or results, please contact the nurse at your student's middle school.

A FREE clinic conducted by an orthopedic specialist will be held at one of the districts Middle Schools, date and time to be arranged.  Students who have been identified by Meridian School Nurses as having variations in their back, are invited to attend.  Contact your school nurse for questions or further information.   

Kindergarten Registration:

During the month of April we hold district wide kindergarten registrations.  Contact your home school regarding specific dates, times and to pick up a packet of required paperwork.  Once the packet has been completed, please return it along with birth certificate and completed immunizations to your school and make an apointment for registration.  Apointments will not be made until immunizations are complete per Idaho State Law, please CLICK HERE for more information, or you have returned the Intent To Immunize Form.
