Page 1 of 3 The Christine Donnell School of the Arts and Pioneer School of the Arts offer parents and students an educational opportunity infused with the arts.
Each school offers the district's curriculum and meets Idaho's Achievement Standards by integrating the arts into the students' daily learning. Drama is used to teach language arts. Keyboarding becomes a way to learn about music - and fractions. Dance becomes a part of Physical Education. Band, choir, visual arts are all regular aspects of each school day.
Performance in the arts is also a way to build leadership skills. Christine Donnell and Pioneer are not performance schools. That is to day, students do not have to qualify in the arts to attend. Nevertheless, students at the school do participate in school-wide performances, class-level performances, and individual presentations. Through these opportunities, students develop the self-confidence and self-discipline that helps build their leadership skills.
