END of .........................the LAST announcement of Summer Session 2009
This online version of Global Perspectives is a fully accredited high school social studies/humanities course required for graduation in Meridian School District, Meridian Idaho. This class will provide a framework for analyzing current issues around the state, nation and world. This course will examine the political and cultural nature of our planet. It is divided into six units of study. Students will use critical thinking skills to define problems, collect and analyze information and develop alternative solutions to complex issues. The course emphasis will be on global issues while also looking closely at the United States' policy relative to them.
Are we alone? Is there life outside of your state? Your school? Your family room? Global Perspectives challenges you to explore the remote and very plausible idea that life outside of your comfort zone is not only interesting, but can directly shape the course of your life. Global Perspectives will enrich, enlighten, inspire you but..mostly it will give you a NEW "point of view" on this wonderful planet we call home!
Your first task is to read through ALL of the information found on the "Article Index Navigation Bar" on the right side of this page. By the way...you are now reading the Home Page & Announcement section of the course! After you have read this page, start your journey through this course by "clicking" on the Contact Info "link" and familiarize yourself with the information found there. When you are done reading through the Contact Info section, continue through the ALL of the other sections of the course linked on the Navigation Bar (except for the Assignments section.) The complete and accurate reading of the information found there is VITAL if you expect to do well on your first assignment!! When you are done with ALL OF THAT READING!!..."click" on the Assignments section, located on the Article Index to the right, and go to Unit A and find the Lesson #1 - Course Introduction lesson. That is your first "graded" assignment! Good luck!!
Please....please.....once again I say PLEASE contact me via email and/or phone, if you have any questions of any kind. And especially if you want feedback on the assignments you turn in and why you got the grade you did!
