Turning In Work
The On-Line "Honor Code"
The On-Line “Honor Code” concerning the integrity of your work The on-line classroom is unique in that there is no direct supervision of the students by the instructors. There is an HONOR CODE involved that students must adopt and practice to insure the integrity of the on-line learning environment and validate the trust between student and instructor. Global Perspectives On-Line students understand and agree to uphold the following principles:
Principal #1: The interchange of information and ideas between classmates is a valid means of helping students understand stated course content and objectives.
Principal #2: Every student knows that learning is the responsibility of the student and the teacher. The teacher will create the learning environment and the student will use the environment to the best of their ability by doing each lesson. Trading and/or sharing lessons amongst classmates are not acceptable.
Principal #3: Individual assignments must reflect individual values and beliefs. Although some material may have a similar theme or slant, each assignment must be done in your words. No plagarism, copying or sharing of answers will be allowed.
Principal #4: The on-line environment makes procrastination the greatest hindrance to success; therefore students will adhere to the deadlines prescribed by their instructors to ensure successful completion of the course.
Principal #5: Any student, who fails to abide by these principles, risks receiving an "F" for the course. Students will be informed and presented with evidence of any violations to the above principles and an opportunity to explain themselves according to district and school policies. If the instructors are not convinced otherwise, all parties involved will receive the same consequence, an "F" for the specific assignment involved and/or the entire course.
I am not there (physically speaking that is) to remind you to do your work! I am ALSO not there to remind you when your assignments are due..... BUT most of what I think that you need to know about turning in your work is found on this page. Please read it carefully and thoroughly and I have the confidence that you will follow the proper procedures. But the bottom line is that you, and you alone, are going to have to be responsible for getting yourself motivated to do the work and turn it in on time! Is this going to be a problem! I surely hope not!! Does my humor and sarcasm come across in print or am I confusing you? Once again............I hope not!
Assignments are composed and submitted one of two different ways. These two methods are described below. You MUST read, and follow EXACTLY the assignment submission procedures specifically described on this page. The first, and most important thing to understand is that............
- Most of the assignments require that you submit them as copy & pasted MS Word attachments with your email. Most of these assignments are actually open notebook/world wide web, multiple choice, true/false and/or fill-in-the-blank "quizzes". These quizzes will be recorded as objective percentage grades. The specific instructions for how to do this will be stated clearly in each assignment
- The remaining assignments that you submit require that you compose and essay and/or answer some questions. This will be done as a MS Word document to be included as an attachment with your email. These essays, and other types of assignments, will be graded based on the directions found in those assignments. These essays are to be submitted as follows: You are required to follow EXACTLY the procedures outlined below......
- Your MSWord document must be composed using one of the following font styles and sizes: Arial “font”, size 12 or 14, OR.....Times New Roman “font”, size 12 or 14
- Your MS Word document margins should be set at 1" for the top, bottom, left and right margins. You change this on your word document by going to "file", found in the upper left hand corner and then go to "page set up".
- You are required to place, in the upper left hand corner of the Word document the following information, in the following order: Your name Your email address Your school The assignment code and title (example: UAA1: Course Introduction).
- You are required to read, very carefully, any and ALL, specific directions that an assignment might ask you to do!!
- Only send ONE assignment per email. Do NOT send multiple assignments on one email. 6. And lastly........when you send the email with the Word attachment make sure to put the Unit number and Assignment number in the subject line of your email. (example: UBA2; Unit A; Assignment 2) Here is the email address to send all assignments to:

VERY IMPORTANT: If you do NOT complete an assignment, a zero will be recorded as your grade. Late work will be deducted ONE full letter grade. As I have already tried to emphasize, much of the success that you will experience in this class will be realized when you know that have become self-motivated and responsible enough to do your work with out someone reminding you to do it all the time!! You have to go to the computer, go on-line and then……..“just do it”! If ANY of these requirements are a problem.... contact us right away!!
Due Dates:
The online semesters are somewhat concentrated so do NOT allow yourself to procrastinate! If you wait until Sunday afternoon (refer to the due date chart at the bottom of this page) to try and get everything completed by midnight, you will be frustrated! You must complete the unit(s), outlined in the chart at the bottom of this page, by the specified due dates, to receive credit for this course. Any assignment, from any unit, may be sent back to you for re-do's or clarification. All re-do's and clarifications must be finished by the stated date. If you wait until the last minute to turn in an assignment and you have a redo or need to clarify something and you cannot get it done by the due date, you run the risk of NOT receiving any credit for that assignment and possibly the entire class!! (sorry). For your information, believe it or not, many people wait until the last minute to turn assignments in.
Contrary to popular belief, I am only human and can grade only so much in any given night. If I get slammed the day before a due date, I will not be able to get through all the assignments turned in and make you aware of any changes that need to take place before credit is given. If you like to gamble with your grade, please wait until the last minute to turn it in. (sarcasm is intended here!!) Otherwise, PLAN AHEAD!!!!!! If you are having problems meeting the deadlines stated, please e-mail your me at lease 72 hours before the due date. Otherwise, extensions most likely will NOT be given! (once again, sorry). If you do NOT contact me within 72 hours before any of the due dates outlined below and formally ask for an extension, I will still accept your work late for half credit. Mathematically, this can make a huge difference in your grade even though the late assignments will all be below a 50% grade. Please do everything possible to have this NOT happen to you!
Each assignment that you send to me will be read, replied to, and recorded according to the following criteria:
- 90%-100% means that you did outstanding/superior work.
- 80%-89% means that you achieved “above the standard for proficiency ” on the assignment.
- 70%-79% means that you achieved “the standard for proficiency ” on the assignment
- 60%-69% This indicates that you did "below the standard for proficiency"
- 0 This indicates that you did NOT turn in the assignment on time or made some other major error's) or omissions. You will be allowed to complete this assignment for half credit, if you receive this grade. (Please refer to the page titled; Turning in Work)
All of the assignments will be added together and be weighted equally with the exception of the Final Project. It will count more. A way to understand what MORE means is that the Final Project will act as a "verification" OR a "tie-breaker" that will help us assign your final grade for this class. When you submit an assignment I will do my VERY BEST to send you a written e-mail reply that is your verification that I received your assignment. Keep hard copies of the replies/evaluations that I send to you. They are proof that you did the work!!
Due Dates: Summer "session" 2008
DUE DATE #1: Sunday, June 22, 11:59PM – Unit A must be satisfactorily submitted and completed.
DUE DATE #2: Sunday, June 29, 11:59PM- Unit B must be satisfactorily submitted and completed.
DUE DATE #3: Sunday, July 6, 11:59PM- Unit C must be satisfactorily submitted and completed.
DUE DATE #4: Sunday, July 20, 11:59PM – Unit D & E must be satisfactorily submitted and completed.
Final Checkpoint: Sunday, July 27, 11:59PM - Unit E and the Final Project, (UF) must have been submitted plus any "re-dos" and late work. NO late work accepted on the Final Project (UFA1). I DEMAND this to be the best work you have turned in for this course. Please make every effort to Dazzle me!
EOC (End of Course) Exam: It is required that you take the End of Course Exam to successfully complete the course. This is not my requirement......it is the school districts! Please use the EOC Study Guide link found in the Resources page to prepare for the test. I am only counting the EOC as 10% of your grade. I am confident that if you prepare, based on the excellent study guide, you will do fine.
I will be informing you, via email, at the appropriate time, the date(s) avaliable for you and where you are to go to take the test. I will be proctoring the test.
