I'm Amy Wozniak, the Professional Development Coordinator for the Meridian School District.

Let me be one of the first to welcome you to Joint School District No. 2, the largest school district in Idaho, during this exciting time in your professional life. Although the district is large, employees can get assistance with educational issues by contacting support personnel or by accessing the district website. We’ve tried to anticipate employees’ initial needs by providing information to answer the most commonly raised concerns at the Orientation site under Professional Development on the district’s intranet website. Read through all the accompanying links to become familiar with the district’s policies, procedures and departments.

Educators have the added support group of testing, counseling and curriculum coordinators, academic coaches, lead teachers and special education consulting teachers who are glad to guide you in specific content areas and accompanying assessment programs used by the district and the state.

Teachers who are entering this district on their first teaching contract have access to a valuable resource – a Beginning Teacher Advisor. The advisors will guide you through this first year by supplying “just in time” information and training opportunities. They are also very knowledgeable regarding district procedures, expectations and policies, so along with your building mentor you have someone to answer questions as they arise.

All teachers and other certified personnel will be pleased to see that the district offers a variety of university continuing education courses each semester for a relatively inexpensive cost of $50 per credit. An additional employee benefit is our scholarship reimbursement program which will pay up to $65 per credit of registration costs for any university coursework you wish to pursue.
